  5.     - Have you ever mistakenly KILLED a User's Account?
  6.     - Has your AMAINT file ever purged a User it shouldn't have?
  7.     - Did you ever delete a User, only to later wish you hadn't?

  9.     If you can answer YES to any of these questions, then read on...
  10.  
  11.     Amiga CNet is a wonderful program. It nevers ceases to amaze me in what
  12. it can do or accomplish. This file is the result of one such discovery...
  13.  
  14.     I've discovered that when you KILL a User Account, it actually ISN'T
  15. GONE! Just as it's possible to gain back a deleted file using an undelete
  16. program, the same can be accomplished for a User Account.
  17.  
  18.     When you delete a User Account in CNet, three pieces of data are always
  19. lost forever: the user's Handle, their Password, and their Serial ID Number.
  20.  
  21.     This program will ask you for an Account Number. Provided the Account
  22. Number you supply is from a deleted account, this program will actually
  23. reconstruct, or revive, the account so that it can once again be used by the
  24. same user.
  25.  
  26.     You will need to reenter the user's Handle and Password, but other than
  27. that ALL OTHER VARIABLES REMAIN INTACT! As for the Serial ID Number, I took
  28. no chances. A brand NEW Serial ID Number is chosen and saved into the account
  29. based on the highest Serial ID Number on file in your "bbs.sdata" file. If
  30. you can recall the original Serial ID Number, AND if no new users logged on
  31. your bbs between the time the account was killed and revived, it is safe to
  32. edit this Serial ID Number back to it's original value.

  34.     There is also a SCANNER built into the program that will search out and
  35. DISPLAY the Account Numbers of any DELETED accounts it finds. You will then
  36. be asked for the Account Number to ReVive. If you press RETURN without giving
  37. an Account Number, the program will EXIT. This adds another feature to the
  38. program, in that it can also be used as a quick way to see how many KILLED
  39. Accounts you HAVE on the system.

  41.     Lastly, I can't STRESS enough how important it is to REBOOT your system
  42. whenever an Account is ReVived! CNet stores the "bbs.sdata" values in memory,
  43. where they can be modified as needed very easily. These values are RESAVED to
  44. the disk bound ".sdata" file whenever someone signs OFF the board, be it from
  45. a MODEM or the LOCAL port. Because this program tweeks the disk bound ".sdata"
  46. values, the memory values are NOT changed(I don't know WHERE in memory they
  47. are presently stored), so a REBOOT is necessary. This must be a complete
  48. REBOOT of the AMIGA System, NOT the CNet system. Simply telling the CONTROL
  49. Window to QUIT CNet will actively CLOSE(or Log Off) any Active Ports, which
  50. is NOT what we want accomplished here. For this reason, it is NOT a good idea
  51. to give a "remote" sysop access to this file, as they do NOT have the means
  52. to effectively reboot the system and reload CNet!

  54.     And that's all there is. Now, even when a user has been killed, they're
  55. NOT actually dead. Another AWESOME power of CNet shines through!
